New Season, New Blooms ...

Well, it has been exactly ONE YEAR, TWO MONTHS, and TWO DAYS since I last blogged about the Dalton Adventures ... We have a new layout and pictures to spice things up a bit.

The boys are growing soooo fast .... Both are walking, talking, and in love with sippy cups. We are enjoying more freedom now that we aren't contained to a rigid schedule of bottle feedings. And one of our greatest adventures is Chick Fil-A ... They LOVE the outdoors and would stay outside ALL day if I would allow them to.

I am going to make this blog a priority as a way to record each of our daily adventures of the GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY! Until then ...

We Need Your Help ....

We have chosen the first name of our next boy to be Jamieson .... Most of you recognize the pronunciation and spelling of this name to be Jameson. We would like to keep the same initials for both boys, but we are having a hard time coming up with a middle name. Please take a minute and vote on the left-hand side for one of the middle names you like best. Thanks so much.

Jackson's First Birthday

Hey, everyone! I know it has been sooooo long since you've all heard from me, and I do apologize. We're doing well. Jackson will be a year old on March 22, 2010, and we're anticipating Jamieson's arrival any day now.

I'm trying to plan ahead before my life gets totally chaotic with two little ones ... I want to put some thought into Jackson's birthday party, which will consist of just close friends and family. Do you have any ideas on party stuff for a one year old. I really want to make the boys' birthdays special. Thanks so much .... Until next time ....

My Little One is SIX Months Old ...

Wow! Where does the time go? It is so hard to believe that Jackson is already six months old. He's laughing, smiling, crawling, sitting up, eating real food, babbling, and the list goes on. The cutest thing is when he gets all excited when his Daddy walks in the door. Jay said the other day, "Either I'm real ugly or the funniest man in the whole world because he loves to laugh at me".

Every night at 8:30 before Jackson heads to bed, we watch the Wonder Pets on Nick Jr. He adores this show, and it keeps his full attention. It is hard to think of what my life was like before him; he is definitely a gift from God.

We go on Wednesday, Sept. 30th to find out what the sex is of our 2nd baby ... I'm excited and anxious. It doesn't matter whether it is a boy or a girl, but it's always so fun to find out.

Enjoy the pictures of Jackson's celebration of six months. Until next time ...

2nd Baby Dalton

Hey, everyone! I'm REALLY slack about updating you on Jackson's life as well as the progress of our new addition. I promise to post more about my sweet little guy in the next couple of days, but I wanted to let you know how my Dr. appointment went. We got to see the heartbeat on the monitor, but couldn't hear it yet. I am due March 1st, which is 21 days before Jackson's first birthday. Lord, help me because I am going to need it. I'm not excited about being pregnant again, but I am excited about having another child. Jackson is the light of my life, and I look forward to the blessings this new little one will bring to our life.

Another Bundle of PURE JOY

Wow! I can't believe that I'm updating with this kind of news .... as most of you know, I'm not real good at handling surprises. BUT, this is probably the best surprise ever. We're pregnant AGAIN. Yes, I know ... Jackson is almost 4 months old, and we're absolutely CRAZY. :-) This definitely wasn't planned, but I truly believe God meant this as a blessing.

But, Jay and I have been praying about a family situation for some time now, where we had the opportunity to be foster parents to two of Jay's cousins. However, we never found a true peace about it, but we continued on with the DSS process. Well, two Fridays ago, I began feeling nauseous, thinking that I had eaten something that disagreed with me. (Thinking it was Paul's hamburgers from the grill) On Sunday after church, I still felt this way. Well, I bought 2 pregnancy tests from Walmart, and both of them displayed PREGNANT on the digital screen. God has a CUTE sense of humor, but I honestly believe that this is why we never had a peace about taking the children in. God had a different plan in mind. I just don't think I'm capable of taking care of that many children at one time considering the range of ages.

I made an appointment with my OB/GYN for July 30th so we'll know more by then, but I ask that you pray that everything goes smoothly just like last time. I also ask that you pray for Jay's cousins, and God's plan for their life. They are sweet children, and they need a loving, stable home. Until next time ...

!!Please Pray!!

I'm not a fan of when people request prayer for an unspoken request, but I'm going to have to do that today. I'm so thankful to know people who are mighty to pray. I hope to share more of what my prayer request is about here soon, but until I can, I ask that you pray for Jay and I tomorrow. We have a meeting tomorrow around 1:30, and I'm praying that we would know clearly what we are to do and what God would have us to do. Until then ....

????Jogging Stroller????

Hey, everyone! I am in need of your opinions, suggestions, horror stories, and/or praise sessions concerning what type of jogging stroller to purchase. Down here at the beach, a normal stroller will not work in the sand so I am looking into purchasing a jogging stroller. BUT, there are so many different brands, types, colors, etc. that I don't even know where to begin. If any of you own one, or know anything about them, please send me a comment! Have a blessed night!

This face absolutely melts my heart ... he's so expressive and talkative right now. He has figured out that he can make noises, and people pay attention. He loves to sing "This Little Light of Mine", and he points and raises his hands at people. Why of course ... you can't understand his lyrics to the song, but it is still the cutest thing ever.
Summer is here, and we're busy, busy, busy. Take care and have a blessed day!

Hanging out with Pop Pop

Snoozing away! He is Pop Pop's little man, but Pop Pop hasn't mastered the art of changing a diaper. He kept Jackson the other morning while I worked and Mom was at the doctor. He said that if Jackson needed his diaper changed, he would walk him across the street to Elaine and Steve's house so E could change it. Men!!!

Wow! How Time Flies!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT HAS ONLY BEEN THREE MONTHS SINCE I WENT FROM THIS...

(ME 9 MONTHS PREGNANT)

TO THIS!

Days in the Life of Jackson

Jackson absolutely loves his Boppy pillow at Granny's house. He plays on it, he lays on it, he eats on it, he spits up on it, and he sleeps on it. He's such a sweet but very impatient child ... I wonder who he gets that from!

Uncle Josh loves to put hats and sunglasses on him. He's wearing Uncle Josh's loud but stylish hat.

Here's our little Rocky!

More to Come ....

I realize that I have been very bad about keeping you up-to-date on our daily adventures in the Dalton family so I'm going to make a promise ... I will post new pictures and stories by the end of this weekend. Until then ....

Jackson Cobb Dalton

It is amazing how much love you have for one tiny little guy! I sit and stare at him, and I am in awe that my husband and I made such a beautiful and perfect person. He is a complete joy, and Jay is so good with him. Jay is like having another little mom around the house.

After 19 hours of labor, Jackson was born on March 22nd at 9:54 PM. He weighed 7 pounds 6.5 ounces, and he was 20 inches long. It was a long, drawn out process, but it was worth every minute of it. I couldn't imagine life without him.

We went for his two week check-up on April 9th. He had gained up to 8 pounds 5 ounces, and he measured 22 inches long. The doctor was pleased with his progress. After the Dr. appt., we met Granny at the mall so I could exchange some gifts he got for a bigger size and shop for his Easter outfit. This Sunday will be his first time going to church, and I pray that he doesn't cry the whole time. Stay tuned for Easter pictures; we're headed to church for Easter with his Godparents, Uncle Mark and Aunt Layne! We went out for lunch with Granny and Uncle Josh after the mall then on to the outlet malls for some more shopping. We made a day of it, and he slept through most of it.

Where has the time gone ... It seems like just yesterday that Jay and I were planning our wedding, picking out gowns and tuxedos, choosing menus for the rehearsal dinner, and wondering if all the details would come together for the big day.

On March 24, 2009, Jay and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary with our first son, Jackson. He was scheduled to arrive on our anniversary, but I guess he wanted to make his own unique entrance on the 22nd. I must say that I'm glad that he didn't arrive on our anniversary, and that he has his own special day to call his own. I had planned to go shopping for Jay's gift on the Sunday Jackson was born, but I had already bought him a card. So, I took out the card and grabbed a pen ... and I was at a loss for words.

As I lay in the hospital on Monday night cuddling with Jackson after Jay left, my heart was overwhelmed with all kinds of emotions, but my heart was full of love for my husband. He had been so comforting and loving during my nine months of pregnancy and during the delivery. He had definitely seen the good, the bad, and the ugly by the time my labor was over, and I couldn't even begin to write how much I respected him, loved him, and most of all, appreciated him.

He came in the next morning on our anniversary with gifts and cards, and I was blown away by his sincerity. He had put me first, shared his heart in each word he wrote, and made sure that I felt NUMBER ONE in his book. He bought me a diamond tennis bracelet that he picked out, which makes it even more special. BUT, my favorite part of all were his cards and the notes he wrote in each one. He isn't a perfect person, but he is the perfect person for me! I LOVE YOU, JAY!

I went to see my doctor on Tuesday for my weekly appointment, and I haven't dilated at all. Due to some previous health issues, I have scar tissue that may keep me from dilating on my own. She was concerned to let me keep going on my own, size of the baby, and the fact my blood pressure was a little elevated yesterday. I have to check myself in on Monday night after 5:00 PM at Waccamaw Hospital, and they will administer a medication called Cervidil. If that causes my cervix to thin out and dilate, they will start pitocin on Tuesday morning, and hopefully, Jackson will arrive shortly thereafter. If the Cervidil doesn't work, Dr. Richmond is considering a c-section.

Please be praying that it is a short, easy delivery. I just want Jackson to be completely healthy, and for everything to go smoothly.

Jackson has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which we'll soon be able to test when we hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Jackson is officially full term! This means that if he arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though my due date is still three weeks away. He weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard).

36 Weeks ... :-)

Jackson is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long.
